Keeping active
Most people with congenital heart disease do not need to restrict their physical activity. There is no reason why you should not enjoy a range of activities such as walking, cycling, tennis or dancing.
For some people the cardiologist may advise against intense physical activity such as competitive sports, contact sports or weight lifting.
However at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity a day, such as walking or cycling is recommended.
Even those young people who get out of breath very easily - remaining as active as possible within your own limitations is recommended.
