Natural birth versus caesarian section - which is best?
Most young girls with a congenital heart problem will have a normal delivery. This is good because the risks are fewer than when you have a caesarean section. The risks may include:-
Infection
Blood clots
Bleeding
However if your heart is not pumping very well or if you have a tight valve on the main blood vessel leaving the heart (aortic valve) then a caesarean section may be better for you.
Caesarean section may also be the method of delivery for you if you have a condition called Marfan Syndrome where the main blood vessel leaving the heart is weakened or if you have a heart condition that makes you very blue with low oxygen saturations
