Employment issues

Some of you may wish to work but are finding it difficult finding suitable employment.

If you need more support getting into work or training  because of your heart condition or other related health problems you can contact your Disability Employment Adviser (DEA) who is based at your local Jobcentreplus who will be happy to meet with you and discuss your options.

The Employment Opportunities for People with Disabilities is the national charity dedicated to creating routes into employment for people with all disabilities and medical conditions. They were founded by ten major corporate employers, with the support of His Royal Highness, The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. It is especially designed to help people with a health related problem or disability find suitable employment.  I have been told from several patients that they have been very helpful.  So give it a go!

They have various different sections including:

1.  Pathways to work - This is for anyone who is currently in receipt of incapacity benefit but is finding it hard finding employment that is suitable for them.

2.   New Deal For Disabled People - for those of you on DLA or other health related benefits - they will give personalised help to help you get back to work

3.   Work Step - for disabled people finding complex barriers to getting and keeping a job

4.   Work Prep -if you have been on long term sick or unemployed for a long time, have a health condition or disability and would like to try and return to work
