Going to high School

Remember all your friends will be feeling like you – excited and a little bit scared as it is a big move!

Remember you are growing up and this is good.  Being at high school means that everyone will treat you as if you are more grown up.

Try to understand your own heart problem and how it affects you so that you can explain things to your teachers and friends.

The P. E. Department at high school is very different and they may need some help understanding your heart problem and how it affects you.

You can ask your heart nurse to help with this process – remember you are not on your own.

Your school may decide to put a health care plan together for you.  This helps everyone understand what is wrong, how it may affect you and what to do should you feel poorly in school.

Feeling lonely? – why not try and come to the youth forum – you can meet other young people who know exactly what you are going through.
